That customer includes about 64 percent of American women who fall into the plus-size category, but account for only 17 percent of purchases.

"I just thought there's got to be a quicker or more profitable way to do this, rather than doing this in pure research," she says. "(The purpose of The Unseen) wasn't to be in all the press and everywhere. It was a strategic plan so we can create products that help people in their daily lives." While they haven't developed chemistry-infused garments to help people just yet, The Unseen's current output has attracted attention across industries. They recently hosted representatives from luxury pakistani fashion car companies interested in using their color change technology, and the team is gearing up to announce a very hush-hush capsule collection for a high-end heritage retailer. One of the world's biggest fashion firms has banned the sale of angora wool after activists highlighted the cruel treatment of rabbits by farms in China. Inditex, which owns Zara, Massimo Dutti and Bershka, said it would stop selling angora garments in all of its 6,400 shops after facing months of pressure from animal rights campaigners. One campaign against angora wool showed videos of live rabbits screaming while fur is pulled from their skins on Chinese farms. The footage, obtained by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) at 10 farms in China, also showed rabbits being stretched on boards and cut as their fur is hacked off.
A crowd of celebrities came out to view Raf Simons' latest collection, which has a distinctly retro feel. On a giant platform outside the Parisian museum today, models showcased the 1960s-inspired looks of the Christian Dior Spring-Summer 2015 haute couture collection. The designer chose to play with contrasting volumes, namely in long, loose and transparent trench coats worn over embroidered mini-dresses. Flared skirts also made a strong showing, echoing the French fashion house's signature design codes. Colorful stripe motifs are a recurring theme in the collection, along with other groovy geometric prints seen in jumpsuits, bodysuits and dresses.
(AP Photo/Christophe Ena) PARIS (AP) -- Fashion royalty Salma Hayek the Academy Award-nominated wife of the luxury heir Francois-Henri Pinault led the front row pack at Saint Laurent, the highlight of the Paris menswear shows on Sunday. Joining her were actor Will Peltz and, nearby, Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour, who nursed her jetlag in shades, having just arrived in the French capital. The Saint Laurent collection the final show on the final day of menswear posed a serious question: Has controversial designer Hedi Slimane, who everyone loves to hate and hates to love, finally been vindicated? Here are the highlights of Sunday's fall-winter menswear 2015 shows, including show reports from Paul Smith, Lanvin and Saint Laurent. SLIMANE FINALLY VINDICATED? The fashion press is a tough bunch.
Instead, the focus in this collection is on ample tailoring and fluid fabrics, with a particular emphasis on wide-legged pants. The waists are typically worn high, sometimes even just above the chest. The fashion house's signature design codes are well represented, as seen in the wide and prominent shoulders in a number of looks. The prints are abstract, with loads of flashy colors (green, red, orange), a few darker shades (midnight blue, brown, pastel blue, black, white) and shimmery accents. One of the most remarkable pieces was a blue pantsuit decorated with mirrors. But the real showstopper was Schiaparelli's eccentric wedding gown: a trench-style mini-dress external link in glittery gold fabric, complete with a long train in the same material.
Molenaar's design house says he died in an Amsterdam hospital on Friday following a fall at his home Dec. 22. Fellow designer Mart Visser told national broadcaster NPO Radio 1 on Monday that Molenaar was a pioneer in the Dutch fashion world known for his "architectural style" of clothes. As well as designing high fashion, including a wedding dress for the bride of Dutch King Willem Alexander's cousin Prince Bernhard, Molenaar also embraced commercial projects such as creating clothing for garbage men and street cleaners in The Hague in the late 1960s and recently designing a walking frame. E! introduced this on the heels (pun intended) of its popular mani-cam, which affords close-up looks at manicures and jewelry. This time, its tight shots of shoes and the feet that wear them. All was well, but I kept waiting for somebodys funky crooked toe to kill the glam. Distracting Arguably, that was the most interesting part of the red carpet broadcasts that began at 4 p.m. with E!s pre-pre-show and ended when hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler took the stage. Thanks to celebrity stylists, critical fashion reporters and cautious stars, red carpet shows are, with very few exceptions, tasteful, safe and boring.

Here, take a listen: . Watch_Dogs It probably says something about 2014 that this ended up being one of the more contentious categories. As a category that ends up speaking to the gulf between expectations and delivery, no gulf was wider than Watch_Dogs . Watch_Dogs started setting up expectations early, with E3 trailers and a certain coyness on Ubisoft's part about which platforms, exactly, the game would appear on. Of course, the eventual list ended up included a pair of platforms that hadn't even been announced yet, and minds raced.

The Global Afterlife Of Your Donated Clothes But the company's products don't come cheap; $250 for a coat and $105 for a pair of shoes are not quite mass-market affordable. And that's likely to be ECOALF's major challenge as it grows. Esben Rahbek Gjerdrum Pedersen, director of the Center for Corporate Social Responsibility at the Copenhagen Business School, says that most consumers look first at quality, price and convenience, where ECOALF has to compete to be mainstream. "Then sustainability can be an important differentiator," he says. Staying fresh in the fast-paced world of fashion is also an expensive challenge. "It's difficult to be innovating all the time.

While most recycled fabrics commercialized today contain 15 or 20 percent recycled materials, Goyeneche's clothes use 80 to 100 percent. Of all the materials he uses, the most interesting have got to be old fishing nets. For Goyeneche, they're a fashion treasure because they're often more than a mile long, and made of high-quality nylon that fishermen need to change out every two to three years. Now instead of being dumped into the ocean, the nets are collected by ECOALF; for every half pound of fishing nets collected, the brand produces roughly a yard of fabric. So far, the company has recycled a remarkable 24 tons of fishing nets, along with 24 million plastic bottles. "ECOALF is one of the very few [sustainable fashion] brands which are, style-wise, very mass-market compatible. This is a very big advantage," says German fashion designer Magdalena Schaffrin.

The Post also reports sales at the global brand have been stagnant, and Michele Sofisti, the CEO of Gucci's watches and jewelry division, left the company last week. In October, Gucci posted its weakest quarterly growth in four years, withoverexpansion in China being pointed to as one reason. Rumors abounded in Europe about this over the past summer, with names being floated as possible new Gucci creative directors. One name heard often and loudly was Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci, who has been considered one of fashion's top talents for years and, we hear, has been at least approached for the position.

The Panthers closed out their trip to paradise by playing their best game of the season. James Robinson had 14 points and six assists, and Pittsburgh was sharp at both ends to beat Kansas State 70-47 Wednesday in the third-place game of the Maui Invitational. ''That's a very good team, Kansas State, that we beat and we beat it the way we wanted to do it as far as defense, execution on the offensive end and smart play throughout,'' Pitt coach Jamie Dixon said. Inconsistent to start the season, Pittsburgh (4-2) pulled it all together against the Wildcats, working the ball around for good shots inside and out, while limiting Kansas State's chances at the other end. The Panthers shot 55 percent and made 8 of 15 3-pointers after a lackluster shooting performance against No. 15 San Diego State in the semifinals.
We know the Tech and their option attack is tough to stop. For the Dawgs, what more can be said about freshmen Nick Chubb? Seems like every week he does something new that has jaws dropping. But at the end of the day, this is a rivalry that lasts more then the 60 minutes played on Saturday. "Those guys aren't even an hour and a half away so you kind of run into them, cross paths with them a few times a year and it's just, it's even a rivarly off the field." said Mike Thorton "You don't want to lose to those guys." "It gives me a little extra motivaton because you don't want to drive down 75 and see the Georgia-Georgia Tech score that's not in your favor for a whole year so there's a lot of different things that get the blood (visit site) going for this game. In the long run, it's been one sided with Georgia having nearly doubled up the wins and under Mark Richt, they've lost to Tech just once.

"We offer a platform to enter 15 markets in local languages, in local currency, with free shipments, returns and so on." Gap, which runs more than 3,500 stores worldwide, is trying to reduce its dependence on the highly competitive North American market and plans to open 40 stores in India at the same time as it strengthens in e-commerce. Digital business head Art Peck is due to take over as chief executive next February after his division's sales grew 21 percent in the 2013 financial year to $2.3 billion, 6 percent of total sales. Gap's bigger European rivals Inditex and H&M are also investing in e-commerce but are focusing on their own sites and are not listed on Zalando. "We have to be where are customers are. Zalando is the most visited fashion e-commerce site in Europe," said Stefan Laban, responsible for Gap's international business. "We want to be one of the biggest brands on the site." E-commerce could grow to 30 percent of total German fashion sales by 2020, from 14 percent in 2012, according to consultancy firm Strategy&.

"We've got a chance with a back-to-back going to Milwaukee to really make this a good week for us, win two out of the three." Milwaukee (7-6) likely presents a more formidable opponent than the Magic and Pacers, though the Bucks were beaten 108-97 at Washington in the first meeting Nov. 1. That marked the first time Paul Pierce got to face Jason Kidd, the man who coached him last season in Brooklyn. It ended in ignominious fashion for Pierce, who was ejected in the first half. The Wizards were without an injured Bradley Beal in that contest. Beal has returned to average 16.5 points in two games off the bench after being out following left wrist surgery. Beal's 24.8 scoring average against Milwaukee is his highest against any Eastern Conference foe.

Swedish TV4 said H&M was using cotton from areas in Ethiopia that are vulnerable to chic Emma land grabbing -- the buying or leasing of land in developing countries, often by foreign companies, without the consent of affected local communities. "According to (TV4's) investigation, cotton used for the production of H&M's clothes in Ethiopia comes from areas subject to land grabbing," TV4 said in an emailed statement. H&M said it did not accept such practices. It began small-scale buying of clothes from suppliers in Ethiopia in 2013, its first sourcing from an African country. Its operations are widely seen as part of the Ethiopian government's plans to build up a garment production industry. "H&M does not accept appropriation of land, so-called land-grabbing," the company said in a statement.

UK sales at New Look stores open over a year rose 8 percent in the period, the firm said, adding it had maintained its gross margin in spite of warm weather keeping many of its warmer winter wares on shop shelves. The unusual autumn temperatures have already forced Next and SuperGroup to cut profit guidance for the year, with analysts expecting the conditions to force many firms into fierce promotional battles. "Despite some improvement in consumer confidence, market conditions remain uncertain and the unseasonably warm weather in September continued through October.

Edwards gets attacked by a bear or maybe theyve never read about how encroaching on the animals habitat does damage to our entire ecosystem. Perhaps the problem is that knowing when (or if) its appropriate to take a selfie seems to be an issue for too many Americans. In July, a teen was criticized for taking pics at the Auschwitz concentration camp . Earlier this month, actor Kirsten Dunst called for people to put their cameras away and live in the moment. You know, look at the bear from a safe distance instead of trying to capture pictures of it for Instagram and other social media platforms. It is presenting a safety issue, said Herron of hikers behavior. We are afraid someone is going to get attacked. Herron remarked that she heard about one bear that charged some people, but they managed to run before the creature could take a swipe at them.
Once the Bears were blasted off the field in the first half, it was simple for Forte to find running lanes against a defense playing back protecting against the pass. --PASS DEFENSE: F -- The Bears finally figured out a way to shut down tight end Rob Gronkowski (9 catches, 149 yards) -- they let him run unimpeded up and down the field so much that he finally had to leave with dehydration. Safety Ryan Mundy couldn't defend Gronkowski, and rookie cornerback Al Louis-Jean was no improvement. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady went right at him with Brandon LaFell (11 catches, 124 yards) whenever he couldn't get it to Gronkowski. --RUSH DEFENSE: F -- The defensive line occasionally got a push into the backfield, but the Bears' inexperienced backup linebackers and veteran D.J. Williams had no clue where the ball was going.

The only shot of Amal in the glam gown is in this sneaky video clip . Just last month, Amal proved herself a true force of fashion during her wedding festivities in Venice. The 36-year-old draped herself in designer duds galore, with a striped Dolce & Gabbana dress and dramatic red Alexander McQueen number ranking among her top pre-wedding looks. Ultimately, Maxi Rodriguez sealed a 4-2 shootout success, crashing his penalty in off the crossbar via the palms of Cillessen to spark jubilant scenes amongthe South Americans in the stands in Sao Paulo. In a contest that was a far cry from the stunningdrama of Germany's humiliation of Brazil 24 hours earlier, penalties always seemed the most likely outcome and so it proved. The last time these two teams met in the knockout stages of a finals - in 1998 - the game was lit up by the sublime quality of Dennis Bergkamp's winning goal, but such moments of outstanding individual brilliance were almost non-existent here. Much of the build up was dominated by talk of a battle for supremacy between the two sides' respective talismen, but both Lionel Messi and Arjen Robben were well shackled throughout. With many neutrals having hopedfor a Brazil-Argentina final, the capitulation of the home side on Tuesday meant that was a distant dream, but the success of Alejandro Sabella's men at least ensures that there will be South American representation in the showpiece. For our lone individual on 16,400 NI comes to 2,700, income tax to 1,658 for a net income of 12,047. Or at 37.5 hours a week 6.17 an hour, for 40 5.79. Currently, the minimum wage for adults is 6.08 an hour, so it would indeed provide that acceptable lifestyle, if only the state were not taking so much of the money earned by the poor. If we simply raised the personal allowance and the NI threshold to 12,000 or so, then no one working full time on the minimum wage would be poor. The gap between what people earn and what they need to earn is what government takes from the poor.

Inside, partygoers mingled amid the tapestries, crystal chandeliers and a courtyard complete with a stuffed tiger. Others, such as couturier Alexis Mabille and his models, tested out the dance floor. City taxicab commissions theoretically mitigated some of the previously mentioned problems, but as anyone who rides in cabs with great frequency knows, the alleged rules instituted by taxi regulators arent often followed as evidenced by how often we emerge from dirty taxis sweating, and after having had to listen to a phone conversation that wed prefer to have missed. The alleged solution achieved by the aforementioned economists, and it was one that mostly favored drivers, reads as primitive now despite it being relatively new. Specifically, a passenger who paid for services rendered and who tipped the driver well, or who at least provided a fair tip, would be handed an orange flag attached to a short wooden pole by the driver; the idea being that the passenger could hoist the flag while hailing his next taxi. Seeing the flag, formerly information-deficient taxi drivers would pick the flag-bearing passenger up with greater certainty when it came to achieving a remunerative transaction. And then assuming the passenger were to stiff the subsequent taxi driver, this same passenger would not be given a flag such that hailing the next cab would prove more difficult. Thanks to Uber, antiquated measures meant to enhance commercial exchange are no longer necessary. Thats the case because passengers http://www.chicemma.com and drivers alike rate each other through a click of a mouse or with a tap on a smartphone screen.
Kyle Kendrick (4-9) continued his pattern of struggling badly in the first inning and then pitching well. Werth followed consecutive singles by Denard Span and Rendon to lead off the game with an opposite-field shot that quickly made it 3-0. But Kendrick settled down and retired 14 straight batters until Roark's two-out single in the fifth. Kendrick ran into trouble in the sixth when the Nationals scored four runs off him and left-handed reliever Mario Hollands. Kendrick allowed Rendon's single to start the frame and then hit Werth to put runners on first and second before getting Adam LaRoche to fly out.

Just kidding! But we suspect the recent launch of Torontos Official Mens Fashion Week (TOM) will definitely help to highlightthe city (and country) morefor fashion moving forward. Thats not to knock Torontos existing fashion week, which features both womenswear and menswear designer collections, along with unisex brands like Joe Fresh. However, becoming the eighth city in the world to launch a menswear specific fashion week will obviously put a bigger spotlight on Toronto and lend seriousness to the citys dedication to competitively presenting fashion from its resident designers on aglobal scale with leaders like London, Paris and Milan. According to Toronto Life , TOM founderJeff Rustia, explained his thoughts on the important of establishing a separate mens fashion week saying, Logistically, it doesnt make sense to lump the men in with the women, because [the labels] have their own buyers, editors and audience. Agreed.Although, we cant but help think about the fact that we may start running out of calendar days and weeks to dedicate to the many fashion weeks taking place globally almost all year round. TOM will run from August 11-15.

At least Urban Outfitters can admit to its flaws and that it needs to do its fashion homework. That's the optimistic view taken by Hedgeye analyst Brian McGough. "One thing we give management all the credit in the world for is that it http://www.chicemma.com/ did not use weather as an excuse -- even though everyone else is."
